There is an essential difference between ancient Chinese education and Western education. The study on the thirteen classics is the basic training for a scholar in ancinent China. In the western tradition the trivium and quadrivium set the stage fo any man of letters. These two systems would obviously produce a different person and as a result the decisions made by these two people would set a different course of action given the same problems that exist in all communities.
