Overview
In order to be effective international businesspeople, students need to keep up to date
with current business affairs and must be able to extract important information from common sources of business material,
paricularly newspapers and periodicals. In additon, future businesspeople must be able to discuss busienss matters both accurately
and professsionally.
Purpose
The purpose of this course is to utilize business readings as a foundation to increase
students' critical thinking skills and professional speaking skill. By the end of this course the student will:
- Be able to extract key information and ideas from business reading mateial
-Be able to synthesize business information and ideas with their own knowledge of business
and the workd in general
- Be able to discuss the significance of information and ideas that are generally regarded
as being of international importance
- Increasse general reading comprehension
- Increase comprehension of works and phrases that are common in business articles
- Improve oral reading skills
- Support an opinion on the reliability of the information they are reading
- Distinguish between fact and opinion
- Identify opinion disguised as fact
