Overview
The International Comunications course prepares students to communicate in a variety of social and business activities.
 
Purpose
The purpose of this course is to extend student's speaking skills and to develop their inetercultural awareness so they can function more effectively as international business people. In additon it will increase and develop students' ability to speak accurately, appropriately and fluently in a variety of professional situations. The objectives of this course are:
- To learn terms and expressions commonly employed in a variety of high-frquency or important business situations
- To increase conversational fluency in dealing with a variety of specific business and social situations
- To increase awareness of cultural differences and how they can affect business or social communication
- To learn to anticipate situations where cultural differences may occur and how to deal with them
- To learn to appreciate the positive potential which often exists in cultural differences
- To learn to recognize one's own cultural values and asumptions

Reflections
 
Students came out with more knowledge about different cultures. Some appreciated the fact that different cultures had their own way of dealing with business while others were not used to the idea that business decisions can be heavily dependent on social customs.
